In 1998, Samuel Khachikian, one of the most important and well-known directors in the history of Iranian cinema, participated in an interview with the monthly film magazine "Film". The interview was published that same year in the director's file and in the book "The Year of Iranian Cinema". The documentary "Samuel Khachikian; A Conversation" is an attempt to illustrate the words of the living Khachikian, through the audio recorded on the only cassette tape left from that interview.
