The Fourth Session: The Slaughter of Prophet Ismail (PBUH)

language: Farsi | Iran |

A story of submission to divine command; from the test of Prophet Abraham (PBUH) to its connection with the epic of Ashura
This assembly is the story of how Prophet Ismail (PBUH) was sacrificed by Prophet Abraham, the friend of Allah (PBUH).

After building the Kaaba, Prophet Abraham (PBUH) is engaged in prayer in a secluded place. In the meantime, Prophet Ismail (PBUH) brings food for his father at the request of his mother Hagar and then leaves for school. At the same time, a tired and hungry goat becomes a guest of Prophet Abraham (PBUH). Abraham explains to him the manners of eating. The goat, offended, leaves the table and goes out.

Gabriel descends to Prophet Abraham (PBUH) by God's command and reprimands him for this behavior. Prophet Abraham (PBUH) realizes his mistake, apologizes to the goat and calls him back to the table. Seeing the humility and magnanimity of Prophet Abraham (PBUH), Geber asks about his religion and eventually converts to the religion of monotheism.

In a dream, Gabriel descends to Prophet Abraham (PBUH) and conveys to him the divine command to sacrifice his son. Prophet Abraham (PBUH) goes to Hagar and asks for Ishmael to accompany him. In the meantime, Satan tries to prevent all three from obeying God's command, but is repelled each time with a stone.

Prophet Abraham (PBUH) shares the divine command with Prophet Ishmael (PBUH), and father and son accept it with complete faith and submission. However, during the slaughter, Prophet Abraham (PBUH)'s knife does not cut according to God's command. At this time, Gabriel descends with a sheep from God to be sacrificed in place of Ishmael.

Gabriel gives the good news to Prophet Abraham (AS) that just as he responded to the divine command and triumphed in the divine test, in the future, from his generation, Imam Hussein (AS) will demonstrate the highest manifestation of servitude and sacrifice by sacrificing his life. Gabriel then narrates the event of Karbala to Prophet Abraham (AS), and the martyrs of Karbala appear before his eyes.
