Artificial landscapes

90 minute

2007

Others | subtitles: farsi,

This documentary reveals the painful hidden layer of industrial landscapes. Photographer Edward Bertinsky seeks penetrating beauty among piles of industrial waste and factory-generated waste. A memorable documentary depicts a Chinese iron ore factory in which its workers are harassed for faster production, or scenes in which children play on top of a rubbish heap. This confrontation between wealth and poverty is most evident in Shanghai; A city with very tall towers built on slums.
